Houston

Hundreds of conventions are held annually in Houston because of the efficient, comfortable and reasonable accommodations offered by the city. The entire downtown area, as in many larger cities, has been revitalized and upgraded with new elevations, numerous clubs, musical entertainment venues and sports facilities to satisfy the whims of any conventioneers. In addition, there are hundreds and hundreds of restaurants in all price ranges and ethnic tastes available and shopping of any kind at all hours in the downtown area as well as in the outlying malls and strip centers. There is a Visitors’ Center at City Hall with people willing to answer any question and pamphlets and brochures waiting for anyone needing suggestions. In all the area motels and hotels, there are duplicates of these pamphlets as well and people available to help the newcomer with directions and smiling faces, ready to assist the traveler. A lot of former convention-goers have relocated to Houston permanently because of that good first impression they got of the fair city, the biggest city in Texas and the largest in the entire South. Houston is a world-class city now, even with its “cow town” heritage and boot-kicking attitude, it possesses outstanding theater and symphony performances and visual art exhibits rivaling the best of New York City and London.
